'Social Enterprise' is not just about protecting our own 'backyard'
Think.Eat.Drink is supporting our new partner cafe in Cape Town, South Africa.
Tony Elvin, Jamie's good friend and development partner from his Jamie Oliver FIFTEEN days, is opening the SUN DINER in The Langa Quarter, Cape Town, a new Social Enterprise Precinct (SEP). The diner will create jobs for the people of Langa, helping to make the community cleaner, greener, and safer for both visitors and locals.
Jamie had a wonderful visit to the project last year and we are proud to say that Think.Eat.Drink and Cafe Think are now proud contributors. For more information and to support this great project please click here.
'Ikhaya Le Langa NPC (the house of Sun) is a ‘not-for-profit’ organization in Langa, the oldest historically Black township in the Western Cape. It is from here that ikhaya le Langa is revitalizing the Langa Quarter, an area of 13 streets comprising five hundred homes housing approximately 7,000 people. This community has languished at the bottom of the racialized socio-economic order in Cape Town for generations.'
